Digital product chargeback checklist

Use this checklist before submitting Stripe dispute evidence for downloads, courses, templates, or memberships. Tick each section; gaps become action items before the deadline. 1. Case metadata

  • Stripe dispute ID and Dashboard link saved
  • Reason code and dispute amount recorded
  • Response deadline (date + timezone) in tracker
  • Evidence owner and backup reviewer assigned

2. Customer and order proof

  • Customer email matches Stripe charge
  • Product name and price at time of purchase documented
  • Invoice or receipt screenshot (if available)
  • IP or device data only if relevant and policy-compliant

3. Delivery or access proof

  • Download link sent or file delivered — see delivery documentation
  • Course enrollment or module access logs exported
  • Login or portal access timestamps (for memberships)
  • License key or activation record (if applicable)

4. Policies and terms

  • Refund policy excerpt at time of purchase saved
  • Terms of service or license agreement snapshot
  • Checkout page showed policy links (screenshot if possible)
  • See refund policy for disputes

5. Customer communication

  • Support emails or tickets related to the order organized
  • Neutral tone in any response draft
  • Notes follow our communication notes guide

6. Pre-submit review

  • Every Stripe evidence category addressed or marked N/A with reason
  • Files named clearly and ordered in folder
  • Peer review completed (second pair of eyes)
  • Submitted before deadline with buffer time
  • Tracker updated after upload — see response checklist
