Free: Stripe Dispute Evidence Starter Checklist

A short, free starter checklist to help you begin organising evidence the moment a Stripe dispute lands. Read and copy it right here — no signup required. Educational only — not legal advice. Outcomes depend on your evidence and the card network's review and are not guaranteed.

What the free checklist includes

  • Capture the basics: dispute ID, reason code, deadline, amount
  • Match the customer and order details
  • Start your delivery / access proof and save the active refund policy
  • Pre-submit reminders: neutral tone, verify facts, redact sensitive data

The checklist

1. Capture the basics (do this first)

  • Save the Stripe dispute ID and a link to the dispute in your Dashboard
  • Record the reason code shown by Stripe
  • Note the response deadline (date and timezone)
  • Record the disputed amount and the original charge date

2. Match the customer and order

  • Confirm the customer email matches the Stripe charge
  • Write down the product name and price at the time of purchase
  • Find the receipt or invoice reference (if you have one)

3. Start your delivery / access proof

  • Note whether you can show delivery or access (download link, login, file access)
  • Save the refund policy that was active when they bought (URL or screenshot)

4. Before you do anything else

  • Keep a neutral tone in any customer message you draft
  • Verify every fact and timestamp — do not guess
  • Redact anything sensitive that isn't required

Who it helps

  • Solo founders and small teams selling digital products or SaaS through Stripe
  • Operators who handle disputes themselves and want a repeatable first step
  • Anyone who keeps reinventing their evidence process under deadline pressure
