Stripe dispute evidence spreadsheet template
When multiple disputes are open, a spreadsheet template beats ad hoc notes. This guide defines columns, status values, and review habits so your team sees deadlines and missing evidence at a glance. Educational only — not legal advice. Tracking improves handoffs; outcomes depend on issuer review and are not guaranteed.
Why use a spreadsheet template
Stripe Dashboard shows individual disputes but not your internal readiness across cases. A shared sheet links dispute IDs to folder paths, owners, and checklist status. Build on our tracking guide and duplicate columns into your template file.
Recommended columns
- Dispute ID, charge ID, customer email, product name
- Amount, currency, reason code
- Opened date, evidence deadline (sort ascending)
- Owner and evidence status (not started → submitted)
- Folder link or path to case directory
- Communication collected (yes/no + notes)
- Delivery/access proof collected (yes/no + notes)
- Submission date and outcome after close
- Learning note for process improvement

Template tabs to include
- Open disputes — active rows only, filtered by deadline
- Closed disputes — archive with outcome and learning notes
- Column key — definitions for new team members
- Weekly review — checklist copied from our tracking guide
Connect rows to your evidence folders and evidence template.
Status values that work
Keep status simple: not started, gathering, ready, submitted, closed. Add sub-notes in a comments column (e.g. "missing access log") rather than inventing extra status codes. Align evidence categories with what evidence you need.
Weekly review from the template
Sort by deadline, flag blank delivery or communication columns, and confirm folder links resolve. Fifteen minutes weekly supports your dispute workflow — it does not guarantee fewer chargebacks.
Spreadsheet template checklist
- Column headers match Stripe metadata you export
- Deadline column formatted as date and sortable
- Status dropdown or validated list documented
- Folder link column uses consistent URL or path scheme
- Closed tab retains learning notes per case
- Template shared with finance, support, and ops
What this template does not do
- Does not promise favorable dispute outcomes
- Does not provide legal advice
- Does not replace Stripe as system of record
- Does not auto-submit evidence to Stripe
